InWa Privacy Policy

Version 2005-09-04

This policy outlines the type of personal information we collect and what we do with that information. We recognize that privacy is an important issue. In general, we strive to *not* collect data that is not necessary to doing our job -- providing our customers with internet access, web hosting, and web development.

Data collection

Customers - To provide service to our customers, we require certain personal information including: name, address, telephone number, desired inwa.net username and password, and current email address. We use this information to provide the service and for billing purposes.

Web surfers - The inwa.net web site collects limited, non-personally identifying information that your browser makes available when you visit any web site. This log information includes your IP address, browser type and language, time and date, and the files (web pages and graphics) you requested. This information is aggregated -- processed by our web log analysis software -- then discarded.

Cookies

Some of our web applications may set a cookie in your browser. At this point, we are aware of only our billing software, Modernbill, that uses cookies. Other than that, we don't feel a need to track our web site visitors.

Information sharing

We do not provide personally identifying information about you to third parties, unless we have your express consent. (And we don't sneakily ask for that consent in the fine print.) There are few instances when it would ever be necessary to disclose personal information about you. Currently we can think of only one time when this might be necessary: when we are helping you with a technical problem that includes a third party such as a domain name registrar, another service provider, merchant gateways, etc.

We are required to provide the FBI with your personally identifying information if served with a National Security Letter. This unconstitutional provision of the Patriot Act bypasses judicial review and revokes our due process rights. We can not legally contest such a request, and we are forbidden from disclosing even the fact that we received such a request, even to our lawyer.

Information security

We take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, and disclosure.

Correction of information

If we have your information wrong, let us know. We will work to correct it.

Links

We link to third-party web sites. We are not responsible for those sites or their privacy practices. The internet can be a wild place; proceed with caution, and make sure the people you deal with respect your privacy.

Changes

Any changes to this privacy policy will appear immediately on this page, with a new version number that indicates the date of the change.
